In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles throughout the Ohio Valley, the Health Plan and the Ohio Valley Runners’ and Walkers’ Club announce “Taking Strides Towards Better Health” Grand Prix Run/Walk Series.

This series provides extra incentive for all ages and abilities to walk or run in a community race. By registering for the series (This is an important step: You must register) we seek to encourage and recognize participation and performance in local racing through a points system.

Runners and walkers will accumulate points for every event they complete in the participation category. Once they accumulate 10 points, they are automatically eligible for the Inaugural “Taking Strides Towards Better Health” Grand Prix Race Series banquet held in December.

Points will also be awarded for top 10 finishers at each event based on the age category participants are entered into for the Grand Prix Series. At the end of the race series, awards will be given to the top three finishers overall in their age divisions at the banquet held in December.

We look forward to seeing you at one of the many races in the series and we hope to help you “stride towards better health” in 2012. For more information or to register for the series, please go to https://grandprix.healthplan.org

The above information is quoted directly from the Health Plan. The 6th Annual Rails-to-Trails 5k Run/Walk has been fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the 30 races in this series. You can participate in as many races as you can. Your top six “scores” are used. Unlike the Barnesville Grand Prix, YOU MUST REGISTER for this at the above web site. It only takes a few minutes.

We are also honored that two of our sister races, the 4th Annual Barnesville Park/Rotary Lake 5k Run/Walk held on March 31st and the 32nd Annual Pumpkin Festival 5k Run & Walk, held on Sept. 29th, 2012 have been chosen to be part of the Grand Prix Race Series.
